LIMITED EDITION BOOK PURCHASE

Close Enough for the Angels has been six years in the making. A full-length novel, this 450 page book includes 100 drawings from Japan, China, and Thailand.

On May 19th, 2016, the Dryansky Gallery in San francisco released a limited edition of 50 hard cover, hand-bound books along with an exhibtion of original drawings, prints, and text panels. At the same time, an epub edition was created as a preview for the commercial print edition, which is scheduled for national release in the fall of 2017.

The Story:

Emit Hopper was a one-hit wonder—twice. First as rock and roller in the 80's, then as an author in the 90's. Now it's twenty years later, and despite his desire to remain a simple laundromat owner, the limelight has found him once more. He meets Julia, a former chef who has abandoned her life to find ‘a new way in,’ and ignoring all the signs that say he’s doomed to repeat his past, he throws himself in with her. But when she disappears on a hike with two other women in Yosemite Valley, Emit finds himself propelled by a repetition far more powerful than he could have imagined.

Funny and poignant, irreverent and philosophical, Close Enough for the Angels is a story about art, creativity, and above all, luck—good, bad, and everything in between. With over one hundred lush and haunting drawings, this full-length, character driven story is a uniquely satisfying reinvention of the illustrated novel.
